Jurgen Klopp: Liverpool Cannot Win EPL Title Ahead Of "Best Football Team In The World"

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has called Manchester City the "best football team in the world" ahead of Sunday's Premier League showdown at Anfield.

City are the only unbeaten team left in this season's EPL, having won seven and drawn two of their first nine matches.

Liverpool will start the weekend 13 points behind City after winning just two of their opening eight games this season.

If Liverpool were to beat City at Anfield and then win their game in hand they would be just seven points behind Pep Guardiola's side.

But Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has already written off his team's chances of staging a title challenge this season.

Asked if Sunday's game could prove decisive in the title race, Klopp replied: "Could be this year... just not with us!"

But Klopp is not dreading Sunday's match.

"I enjoy preparing for the game," he continued. "But it's the biggest challenge you can face in football because football is all about closing down spaces, closing down players, having challenges in the right areas.

"With City, if you close them down here then they are there. If you close that gap, you open up another gap.

"So it's always a challenge. It's not that we now feel different or whatever. It is still a home game, it's Anfield. It's us against Man City.

"Yes, they are in the moment definitely the best football team in the world.

"But we will give it a try anyway, knowing that there are no guarantees. But we will get help from a full Anfield and we will try to use that."

Despite Klopp ruling his team out of the title race in October, City manager Pep Guardiola believes that Liverpool will still be his side's closest challengers this season.

Asked why he felt like this, Guardiola said: "Because I know the quality they have."
